Fire Protection Engineer (Mission Critical)
About the company:
Here's an opportunity to get in early with a new office without taking the risk of joining a new business. This established MEP consultancy has grown rapidly within the mission critical and hyperscale data center market and is now expanding that success into Dallas.
You'll become part of the local team at an important stage of its growth. With complex projects already in the pipeline and strong backing from the wider business, you'll have the opportunity to build specialist expertise while taking on more responsibility as the office develops.
What you'll be doing:
Design fire protection and life-safety systems for mission critical facilities
Develop sprinkler, detection and suppression systems
Support fire alarm design and coordination
Perform hydraulic calculations and hazard assessments
Complete equipment sizing and system analysis
Apply NFPA, IBC, IFC and local fire protection requirements
Prepare construction documents, specifications and technical reports
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural teams
Review RFIs, submittals and construction documentation
Support projects through design, construction and closeout
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
3+ years of fire protection engineering or design experience
Strong understanding of NFPA standards and life-safety systems
Experience with hydraulic calculation and fire protection design software
Proficiency with Revit
Commercial or industrial project experience
Mission critical or data center experience would be a strong advantage
EIT certification preferred
PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
