Electrical Engineer (Mission Critical)

This is an opportunity to join a new Raleigh team at the start of an exciting period of growth. Backed by an established MEP consultancy with a strong presence in the hyperscale data center market, you'll have access to major projects while still getting the experience of helping build something new. The firm is continuing to invest in its regional expansion and is looking for an Electrical Engineer who wants to develop specialist expertise while taking on more responsibility as the local team grows.
What you'll be doing:
Design medium and low voltage power distribution systems
Develop lighting and emergency power designs
Work with generators, UPS and automatic transfer systems
Complete electrical calculations and equipment sizing
Prepare panel schedules and system studies
Carry out fault current and selective coordination analysis
Support arc flash, voltage drop and Neher-McGrath studies
Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, IBC and local requirements
Coordinate with mechanical, structural and low voltage teams
Review RFIs, submittals and construction documentation
Support QA/QC throughout project delivery
What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
3-7 years of electrical engineering design experience
Experience with electrical building systems and power distribution
Proficiency with Revit
Mission critical or data center experience would be a strong advantage
Industrial or complex commercial experience will also be considered
EIT certification preferred
PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus
Strong communication and organisational skills
Comfortable managing multiple assignments and deadlines
