Structural Engineer (Forensics)

About the company:

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer (Forensics) to join a leading firm in Los Angeles specializing in failure analysis and construction litigation support. This role involves working with legal and insurance professionals to investigate structural failures and provide expert guidance in a collaborative environment.

What you'll be doing:


  • Conduct field assessments to document conditions and damage to structural systems caused by natural or human-related events

  • Investigate structural failures, including design flaws, construction defects, and improper material use

  • Apply building codes and structural engineering principles to determine repair scope and cause-of-failure analyses

  • Review design drawings and assess compliance with codes and standards

  • Prepare detailed technical reports and communicate findings to clients


What we're looking for:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California (multi-state licenses or ability to obtain is a plus)

  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience in design or other areas that contribute to a strong understanding of structural behavior

  • Experience with steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing, and building envelopes

  • Strong knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.)
