Senior Building Envelope Consultant
About the company:
This is a small building enclosure consultancy that has built a strong reputation by staying focused on the work and the people doing it. With around 35 staff across Seattle and Portland, the firm remains independently owned and closely led. Consultants have direct access to ownership and are trusted to take responsibility for their work. They are known for technically sound enclosure design and investigation work, with a work culture that is professional, practical, and collaborative.
What you'll be doing:
Leading enclosure design for new construction and rehabilitation projects, including details, assemblies, and performance strategies
Managing complex building envelope scopes from early design through construction
Performing site visits, investigations, field reviews, and installation observations
Preparing clear, well written technical reports, drawings, and design documentation
Serving as a primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects
Mentoring junior and mid-level consultants and reviewing their work
Contributing to internal standards, tools, and technical development
Playing an active role in a culture focused on learning, collaboration, and quality work
What we're looking for:
7+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting, building science, or a related field
Strong enclosure design experience, including details, assemblies, and performance analysis
Experience supporting projects in the design phase, not only investigations or assessments
Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline
PE, SE, or RA licensure, or the ability to obtain it
Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills
Interest in mentoring and working collaboratively with a team
Ability to work in the office initially to build relationships, with flexibility once established
More reasons to apply:
One of the few remaining independent enclosure consultancies in the region
A leadership structure that allows direct communication with ownership
Relaxed, respectful culture that trusts people to do good work
5% annual bonus, plus incentives for business development
Full medical, dental, and vision coverage, including paid coverage for children
Wellness program with a paid gym membership
Opportunities for continued growth, both technically and as a leader
